How often should you use your ultrasound device?
There is no magic number of sessions a week - but there is a sensible rhythm. How to find the frequency that suits you, and the signs you are overdoing it.
It is one of the first questions people ask, and the honest answer is the least satisfying one: it depends. There is no magic number of sessions per week. But there are sensible habits, and a simple way to find the rhythm that suits you.
Little and often beats long and rare
A few short sessions across a week tend to feel better than one long one. The device is made for gentle, everyday use, not for intensive bursts, and a steady, light touch feels better than occasional effort. If you are choosing between a single twenty-minute session and three short ones, choose the three.
This also makes the habit easier to keep. Five minutes is something you can fit into an ordinary evening; a long session is something you start postponing.
A sensible starting rhythm
If you would like a starting point rather than a rule, this works well for most people:
- In your first week, use it once a day on the lowest intensity, simply to learn how it feels.
- From there, settle into using it when an area feels tight or tired — often a handful of times a week.
- Keep each session short: five to ten minutes per area is plenty.
Signs you are overdoing it
More is not better, and the body will tell you if you have tipped over. Ease off if you notice any of these:
- The area feels tender or over-sensitive afterwards rather than eased.
- You are reaching for a higher intensity to feel the same thing.
- The session starts to feel like a task you have to get through.
Self-care should leave you feeling tended to, not worked over.
Let the body, not the calendar, decide
The best schedule is the one you barely have to think about. Use the device when an area asks for it, keep the sessions short and gentle, and let the rhythm settle on its own. If you have a medical condition or any pain that persists or worries you, check with a health professional rather than reaching for more sessions.
